Making Books With Children

Making books encourages literacy and creativity and builds bridges across the generations. There is something both calming and energizing about making our own books with our own hands. As we fill our simple books with content, we can tell our stories, express our feelings, and work on subject matter across the curriculum. Using recycled materials is good for the planet and teaches us to see things not just for what they are, but for what they can become. I've been making books in schools, libraries, and with my family for twenty years. My primary goal is always to make it easy and fun. It is my pleasure and delight to share what I have learned and bring the joy of making books to you.

Down Under Literature

We are an independent Australian home school publisher specialising in educational curriculum and living books for the home school.

We are not a traditional textbook and worksheet home school curriculum provider.

We don’t believe your home school students should just fill in the blanks.

We want to encourage thoughtfulness by giving home school children living books and resources.

We aim to open their hearts and minds for learning in the home school.

Yesterday's Classics

Yesterday's Classics is your headquarters for the best classic literature for children. We republish classic books for children from the golden age of children's literature, the era from 1880 to 1920. Many of the titles we offer have been out of print for decades and so have been hard to find. Now your children can enjoy these books that delighted generations of children at the beginning of the twentieth century.

Discovering Great Artists

A very popular book among homeschoolers, Discovering Great Artists, Hands On Art for Children. The following excerpt has been taken from the books website.

Children ages 4-12 experience and enjoy painting, sculpting, drawing, and building works of art in the styles of the great masters such as Van Gogh, Michelangelo, and Rembrandt. 150 art ideas divided into five main chapters introduce children to over 80 great masters from the Renaissance to the present. Chapters include: Long Long Ago (Renaissance and Post Renaissance), Sunny and Free (Impressionists and Post Impressionists), Wild and Wacky (Abstract and Surrealists), Art Today Everyway (Pop, Op, and Modern), Make It and Play It (Games and Activities Kids Can Make), and a detailed Resource Guide (Indexes, lists of artists' birthdays, and many more things kids will love).

The website also has an online supplement for the book which you can see here and an online teaching supplement. Also check out this part of the site for some great art activities as well.
